Why do you feel this person deserves to be honored? : Doug heads up a large team of volunteers at “People Helping people” - doug is tirelessly helping every day coordinating harvesting volunteers at First Fruits Farms ( which harvested 29 thousand pounds of organic fresh produce - PHO is a food bank feeding 250 families a week with out fresh food pantry on Wednesday of healthy food - doug coordinates the collection of the donated food at the farmers market - pick ups at Costco for donated goods / Ralph’s Albertsons the food bank in slo and was able to secure USDA direct origins and meat for our program - he seamlessly always w a smoke makes it look easy - to feed 2000 people a month -provide groceries to 250 families a week w both our Wednesday free market and our 5 pm hot meal is noteworthy while it may sound simple the collection - storing of food distribution and compliance w local and state and federal levels to comply w health and safety is huge - doug also volunteers at his church on many levels - all our crew ( me sharing the 50+ people who help provide the back bone of our community food it such an outstanding effort all with an easy smile - a great way of mating us all feel unique and special is what makes our program the best ever A we all can’t thing of a more deserving noteworthy person to be citizen of the year ! Long time resident and forever volunteer Beuce make the behemoth success look easy ( it’s not ) it is a collective effort of collection of food of coordination of pick ups harvesting crew and set up crew checking in on the people who come weekly - out whole crew is joyful and makes this big effort flow w teamwork ! While I bring this up ( for the voice of us all ) there is much more Bruce does - and it must be mentioned he always makes everyone feel appreciated worthy and follows through on the smallest text question or problem solving to keep healthy fresh food and staples on the tables of 2000 local people a month - blessings Daisy Werp
